Summary

Several services ago we read Titus 2:11-14. This scripture challenges us to live in wisdom, righteousness, and be devoted to God. How do we live devoted to God? Jesus is the answer.

In John 8:12 Jesus says he is the light of the world. Whoever follows him will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Do you choose to follow Jesus?

In John 10:11 Jesus says he is the good shepherd. Those who are of his flock hear his voice. Those you aren’t don’t hear and understand him.

To hear Jesus we need to focus on him. To walk with Jesus we need to be led by him every step of the way. Those who follow the patterns, routines, and habits of this world are distracted and can’t focus on their journey with God. Romans 6:12 commands us “Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.”

Jesus came to forgive and save us from sin and death. We can now live in God’s righteousness. Do you choose to live devoted to him? Start your journey today.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭14‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭35‬-‭40‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
